The Wacky Racers are a perennial favourite at The Asylum.
Lots of crazy fun and steampunk creativity and are held in the Castle. If you would like to take part, then please fill in the form below.
Before the start please report to the race marshals. (Flourescent jackets)
Vehicles must be entirely (wo)man powered. This power need not be wholly within the vehicle (they may be pushed/towed by runners therefore.)
Vehicles must have more than two wheels, have a steering system and carry a “driver”.
Drivers must wear helmets and goggles.
Vehicles fall in to one of two classes.
- Class one – straight man power or 1:1 power transmission
- Class two – making use of mechanical advantage (e.g. cranks/chains/gears on bicycles)
The course shall be “the banjo” at the Castle. Vehicles will need to cover 60 meters, turn in the circle at the end then 60 meters back to the finish.
Any underhanded sneakyness such as guns etc must be safe to other drivers/crews and spectators and must not cause stains or damage to the course/castle.
Direct interference with other racers or sabotage etc will result in disqualification. Firing nerf darts or water pistols etc, is not considered interference.
Drivers are strongly recommended to wear gloves and knee/elbow pads.
All drivers enter entirely at their own risk. All drivers agree to abide by the marshals’ instructions at all times and will do nothing that may be considered hazardous to other racers or spectators and officials.
Marshals’ decisions are final and binding and entrants agree to abide by them.
