A Victorian Steampunk Christmas… Weymouth
03-05 December 2021
Join the Ministry of Steampunk for a festive weekend in the historic seaside town of Weymouth.
We will be based at the Grade II listed Victorian Nothe Fort, a unique venue with a network of underground passages, anti-aircraft guns, Victorian cannons, nuclear shelters and lookout towers. Built by the Victorians to protect Portland Harbour, Nothe Fort is one of the best preserved forts of its kind.
Situated on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast site, Weymouth is so much more than it’s majestic beachfront. Weymouth’s beautiful ancient harbour, gardens, cafes, restaurants, boutique hotels and historic lanes full of independent shops, this is the perfect destination to celebrate the festive season with Steampunk friends new and old.
- Saturday daytime @ Nothe Fort – £5 (plus £1 booking fee)*
- Friday evening and Saturday daytime @ Nothe Fort – £11 (plus £1 booking fee)
- Sunday daytime – FREE entry (no booking required)
Friday 03 December
A welcome Pirate Party includes exclusive entry at night to the Nothe Fort, treasure hunt and rum tasting. Dress to impress (we will be offering spot prizes throughout the night), grab the first clue and head off to find the first rum ration. Don’t like the grog, don’t worry, we have alcohol free alternatives.
Saturday 04 December
The Ministry of Steampunk has secured a discounted wristband (usually £9.50) for Nothe Fort, that includes entry to the venue, curated market, museum and hosted activities. Wristbands are just £5 for Saturday daytime and £11 for Friday night and Saturday daytime (must be purchased in advance so we are able to manage capacity).
- Curated market – selection of inside and outdoor Steampunk traders
- Exhibition hall – drop in to see the latest creations from Tinker’s workshop
- Hogfather and Pratchett with Marc Burrows
- Carol-a-long – join us for a festive sing along
- Visit the museum, tour the fort and enjoy the café
Join as we head to the stunning Weymouth Royal Hotel for an evening of fine food, fine wine, conversation and live music. Full information and tickets TBC.
Sunday 05 December
Wrap up warm, put on your finest outfits and join us for a Steampunk Promenade through Weymouth. Starting from the Clock Tower, which was created for Queen Victoria’s 50th anniversary, we will enjoy a safe route along the seafront, ending at Alexandra Gardens, where you are free to enjoy the fantastic gallopers (other classic amusements and fairground style rides can also be found here).
For those foolhardy folks, the beach is a short walk from the park if you wish to take a Christmas paddle!
